Written after reading twenty-three live breeder sites

The pages breeders keep not writing.

Price, the waitlist, health testing, the FAQ. The pages every buyer looks for and almost nobody has finished. We read twenty-three live breeder sites one page at a time to find out which ones go missing.

What we found on twenty-three breeder sites

Twenty-three independent cat and dog breeder sites, found the way a buyer finds them, read on 28 August 2026. Every one is named in the free download, so none of this has to be taken on trust.

What a buyer is looking forSites that had it

The breeder’s full name anywhere on the site2 of 23
Testimonials or references4 of 23
Health test results, not the claim5 of 23
A FAQ page or section7 of 23
An application form8 of 23
Availability updated within three months8 of 23
A price you can read11 of 23
The waitlist explained in writing14 of 23

Half of them publish a price and most explain the waitlist, so the market has moved on those. What almost nobody does is tell you who you're buying from, show you the contract before you commit, or put a test result on the page instead of the phrase health tested.

Why we went and looked

We build websites for breeders, which means we have watched the same thing happen more than once. The design gets signed off quickly. Then the project sits, because writing the words is the part nobody wants to do.

So before writing a word of anybody's site, we went and read what breeders already have. The table above is what came back. It is also the reason we know which pages to build first.

Questions

How were the twenty-three sites chosen?

They were found the way a buyer finds them, by searching for the things buyers type, and every one was fetched and read on 28 August 2026. Marketplaces, directories and registry pages were left out, because they aren't a breeder's own site. Where something was unclear it was recorded as unclear and never counted as a yes.

Cats or dogs?

Both. Eleven cat breeders and twelve dog breeders.

Can I see which sites they were?

Yes. All twenty-three are named with their web addresses in the free download, so none of this has to be taken on trust.

Is there a score?

No, and there won't be. We ran our own tool against the same site more than once and didn't get the same answer twice, so a score would be a number we can't reproduce. So this site publishes findings and never a score.
